Asus Zenfone Max Features

Looks and Display

Asus Zenfone Max is crafted with a luxurious leather pattern at the back to keep the phone within your grip and let you hold it firmly. The side bezels give a metallic effect which is completely relevant to the previous Zenfone Max model design.

Similarly, the power and volume buttons are located on the right and the micro USB port is at the bottom with the 3.5mm audio socket at the top. The back panel is detachable for inserting the SIM cards and the microSD card.

So as far as I am concerned about the design, there are no changes compared to the previous Zenfone Max variant because Asus focused on powering up the technical root of the phone instead of the design. The same goes to the display, which remains unchanged. Asus continues using the same 5.5-inch HD IPS display with stunning graphics and resolution that delivers a crystal clear view.

Performance and Processor

The phone comes in two RAM variants, 2GB, and 3GB, where 2GB RAM arrives with two processor variants, Quad-core (old) and Octa-core (new), and the 3GB RAM variant comes with only Octa-Core processor.

The phone is revamped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core processor with the two RAM variants for the speedy processing of the device and help you fulfill your tasks instantly. Correspondingly, Asus continued providing the same 5,000 mAh powerful battery which is the underlined feature of Zenfone Max.

he battery keeps the phone last longer with 38 days standby and additionally, it works as a power bank to charge up other devices. The phone battery keeps the phone active for 3 days on a single charge and it provides a USB OTG cable to charge other devices too. The battery includes the stamina and supremacy to charge up any device running on low battery, as well as keeps the phone active and running during the session.

Camera

The new Zenfone Max contains the same camera features as the old one including PixelMaster for high-quality images and videos. The rear camera is 13MP with auto-focus LED flash and includes stunning features like selfie panorama, special effects and filters, beautification and lots more. There are a variety of photography modes and camera controls to bring perfection in your images and deliver the best result. The front camera is 5MP which is good enough for clicking selfies. Both the cameras can adapt low light and click great pictures in any light condition. For clicking indoor pictures, you might need to adjust the controls or choose a suitable mode in order to make the image look great.

OS

The Zenfone Max’s new model is pre-installed with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) which is Android’s latest OS. The older Zenfone Max model is supposed to receive the Marshmallow update so it’s obvious that the new phone will come with Android 6.0 ready.

Android Marshmallow brings a plenty of new features on the phone like, Do Not Disturb Mode, Doze Mode, Now on Tap, and overhauled app permissions. Asus continues to keep its Zen UI skin on top of the OS which comes with pre-installed apps from Asus like, ZenCircle, ZenMotion, Creative Studio, Personalization, File Manager, ZenFlash Camera, ZenTalk, MiniMovie, Splendid, Asus WebStorage, and loads more. On the initial boot, there are 50 apps those are required to be updated and there are plenty of push notifications from various services and the pre-installed apps which are required to be customized. So you might need to disable few of the background apps to prevent application loads before you start installing the newer apps.

Verdict

Overall, the new Asus Zenfone Max meets the user’s expectation whether it’s about performance or the price. Talking about performance, the phone’s powerful battery keeps the phone at the top and delivers flawless battery backup for up to 3 days.

The best part about the phone is, it works both as a smartphone and a power bank so that you can keep your other devices charged up with the OTG cable provided in the box. The new processors make the phone perform even better and faster than the previous Zenfone Max model and keeps it actively working even while multi-tasking. So I would recommend the Zenfone Max as a must buy if you are seeking for both superior performance and power in your smartphone.
